Q4 2011 update: First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q4 2011, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals reports that:

A program of target generation around Kevitsa and elsewhere in Finland has been in progress since 2009. The primary target of this program is high grade ‘massive sulphide’ Ni-Cu-PGE mineralization. The prospectivity of the Kevitsa district for this type of deposit was re-enforced recently by the announcement of a significant discovery by Anglo American at ‘Sakatti’, less than 20km south of Kevitsa. During 2011 several hundred targets were followed up with field reconnaissance, geochemistry and geophysics with many anomalous areas selected for ‘base of till’ drilling. Several targets are currently being followed up with diamond core drilling.

Q3 2011 update: First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q3 2011, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals reports that:

To the north of Kevitsa several high priority nickel, copper, platinum group elements targets await environmental approval for drilling and should be drilled once the ground freezes.

The Alliance continues to field investigate regional targets within Finland.

Q2 2011 update: First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q2 2011, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals reports that:

Drilling continues on regional targets to the north of Kevitsa.

The Alliance continues to field investigate regional targets within Finland.

Q1 2011 update: First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q1 2011, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals report:

Regional exploration in the area north of Kevitsa is returning encouraging results. Twenty-two geophysical targets have been tested by base of till drilling in 2,400 shallow holes. Several Cu-Ni-PGE anomalies coincident with magnetic features are highlighted. Three targets are currently being tested by diamond core drilling with seven holes completed. Disseminated and net textured magmatic Cu-Ni sulphides have been reported in several holes.

Regional reconnaissance exploration continues.

2010 update: North America Ni-Cu projects

Newgenco’s alliance partner in North America, MMG, reports that:

Field mapping programs were completed at the Ontario nickel-copper (JV) projects during 2010

Exploration continues into 2011.

Q4 2010 update: First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q3 2010, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals report:

The regional drilling program in Finland moved into a target testing phase with eight prospects in the Kevitsa North project tested by shallow base-of-till drilling. Initial geochemistry results are encouraging and two targets are currently subject to follow up core drilling.

Regional reconnaissance exploration continues.

Appointment of JP Hunt as Exploration Manager for Finland projects

John Paul (JP) Hunt has been appointed Exploration Manager – Projects for Newgenco’s activities in Scandinavia.

Working closely with project JV partner First Quantum Minerals and its local subsidiary, Kevitsa Mining, JP’s current focus is on the region surrounding the Kevitsa Ni-Cu-PGE deposit in Finland.

Rebecca Sproule will continue to manage regional reconnaissance exploration within the Fennoscandia Ni-Cu targeting Alliance with First Quantum.

2010 Q3 update on First Quantum Ni-Cu-PGE alliance in Finland

As at the end of Q3 2010, Newgenco Exploration (Fennoscandia) Pty Ltd’s Alliance and Joint Ventures in Finland with First Quantum Minerals report:

An extensive field validation program of regional targets has defined 22 prospects for follow up drilling during the coming winter (2010/11).

Regional reconnaissance exploration continues.

Global Lithospheric Architecture Mapping (GLAM)

Newgenco has joined a number of major exploration companies as a subscriber to the Global Lithospheric Architecture Mapping (GLAM) database products.

GLAM was initiated by WMC Resources and further developed by BHP Billiton, both in collaboration with the GEMOC Key Centre at Macquarie University.

The product is the first systematic attempt to map the Sub Continental Lithospheric Mantle (SCLM) in 4-dimensions, including details of mantle evolution, the trans-lithospheric architecture and history of individual domains.

The Project was initiated to create a breakthrough in exploration success rate for world class ore deposits.

Dr Graham Begg has been the principal researcher of GLAM and has commercialised the products through his company Minerals Targeting International Pty Ltd.

New strategic alliance with First Quantum over West Africa

In March 2010, Newgenco Exploration (West Africa) Pty Ltd (‘NEWA’) signed a 2-year strategic exploration targeting alliance with TSX- and LME-listed First Quantum Minerals to explore for large magmatic nickel-copper-platinum group element  (Ni-Cu-PGE) sulphide resources across a number of countries in West Africa.

First Quantum is one of the world’s fastest growing copper producing companies with a developing commitment to nickel production through its 100% ownership of the Kevitsa Ni-Cu-PGE deposit in northern Finland and the Ravensthorpe Ni-Co laterite operation in Western Australia.
