John Simmonds
PhD MBA (Finance) BSc (Hons)
John is a specialist in magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE deposits, with over 25 years of global exploration experience covering project and target generation, opportunity assessment, early-stage project management, intrapreneurial marketing and financial evaluation. His career spans exploration, operational and business development roles in the multinational mining (WMC Resources, Anglo American), junior exploration and consulting sectors.
A specialist in high-risk portfolio management, John has developed innovative venture creation and management experience through his technology commercialisation activities across multiple high-growth industries.
One of the co-creators of Newgenco, he has led the company’s growth from his role as Managing Director. John is also President of Newgenco Exploration (North America) Limited.
From 2001-09, John co-facilitated a biennial reality education program in New Venture Creation and private equity capital raising within the MBA program at the University of Western Australia.
He is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Exploration Targeting, University of Western Australia, focusing on support for the Centre’s exploration business and Ni-Cu-PGE initiative.
